About the project
Milan and its Sempione Park host the Race in the City international race. Athletes compete in the third and last Italian stage of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, after the Tour de Ski with Dobbiaco and Val di Fiemme. On 14 and 15 January 2012, Milan hosted four of these races in a very special circuit set up in the Sempione Park area nearer the city centre, just a ten-minute walk from the Duomo and Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Free entry to the event was made possible thanks to the involvement of commercial partners and international sponsors. With its 620-meter circular track, Race in the City brings snow to Milan, making it even more magical and irresistible. At the finish line, visitors and skiers are struck by the spectacle offered by Castello Sforzesco, the most beautiful setting that the Lombard city can offer together with the Duomo: an unprecedented vision for the competition.Honegger is an official partner for facilities boots realised for the Race in the City organization. These facilities include technical parts to support videowall and cameras, gazebos and stands dedicated to some of the initiative sponsors, a VIP stand, containers for TV operators and a mix zone, athletes and VIP tents, gazebos for catering service, FIS container and those for time keepers, and the pedestrian bridge for crossing the runway. Lombardy Region, Province of Milan, Municipality of Milan, are the institutional partners of the initiative, among the sponsors present, however, Fastweb, Philips, CityLife and Banca Popolare di Milano.
